Swedish director of music and composer, born October 21, 1790 in Västervik, died May 23, 1851. He first devoted himself to the civil service career but became a music teacher at the War School at Karlberg in 1824 and in 1833 graduated as a music director. He was elected member 293 of the Royal Academy of Music on May 27, 1841. Among his compositions are male quartets, solo songs, church music, music for plays and a large symphony. In addition to his popular Vårsång, first performed at the Uppsala students' spring tribute on April 30, 1823, he also made the arrangement for Otto Edvard Westermark's composition of Tegnér's "Kung Karl, den unga hjälte".
