Emanuel Laskey

Emanuel was born on June 20th, 1945 and during his early years lived at 754 McDougall. This was in Detroit’s long-gone Black Bottom area on the city’s east side, but his family moved across to the west side of Detroit when he was a teenager, to 11711 Dexter Avenue. Consequently he and his brother Charles left Eastern High to attend North Western, which at that time was not a million miles from Thelma’s office on Grand River Avenue, where he started his recording career. He died June 23rd 2006 in Detroit, Michigan
