elcassette is Maria (guitar, synthesizer, ukulele, melodica, vocals) and Elke (drums, guitar, cayon, synthesizer, vocals). Their music is an unapologetic combination of Indie Rock, Riot Grrrl, and experimental Pop, colliding with Electro cataclysms. With songs ranging in subject matter from love and death to nostalgia and domestic violence, the words catch the listener off-guard with brash honesty. They play different instruments on stage – sometimes guitar and drums, sometimes synthesizer and electronic beats, sometimes ukulele and acoustic guitar, which refers to the D.I.Y. principle. Maria was highly influenced by Queercore and Indie during her time in Portland, the Riot Grrrl metropolis. In Munich, Maria and Elke finally met and are since experimenting as a duo in the range of Indie Garage Rock.
