Early Eyes

Led by the agile rasp of songwriter [a=Jake Berglove], Early Eyes' uplifting alt-pop touches on soul, bedroom pop, and smooth sophisti-pop. As college students, they were selling out shows in Minneapolis before releasing their debut EP, Minutes, in 2017. Early Eyes formed at the University of Minnesota in October 2016. The lineup of [a=Jake Berglove] (Vocals, Guitar), Harry Patterson (Guitar), [a=Desmond Lawrence] (Bass), and Wyatt Fuller (Drums) quickly garnered a local Twin Cities following, won the National Endowment for the Arts Songwriting Challenge, and were nominated for Best New Band of 2017 by alternative newspaper City Pages (winning the publication's music video award, for "Coffee"). The group signed with Epitaph Records in January 2020 and crossed the million-stream mark with the self-conscious "Marigolds," released in March 2020. It appeared on the Sunbathing EP that November. While forced off the road due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Early Eyes underwent a lineup overhaul; the group now consists of [a=Jake Berglove] (Vocals, Keybaords), [a=John O'Brien] (Vocals, Guitar), [a=Joe Villano] (Vocals, Guitar), [a=Megan Mahoney] (Bass), and [a=Sam Mathys] (Drums), and together they recorded Early Eyes' debut album Look Alive!.
