Don Hosea
Don Hosea

Born 5.2.1938 in Cape Girardeau (Missouri). Member of the band: "The Snearly Ranch Boys". Friend of Roy Orbison and Stan Kesler (who became his founder in recording industry in 1958 by releasing "Everlasting Love" on his label Crystal Records. Rockabilly and Country singer, guitarist, songwriter known for his part in Memphis late 50s and early 60s Rockabilly music. In 1967 Hosea left Memphis for Nashville and throughout the 70s, Hosea partly left performing and recording to focus on his songwriting talent. He wrote for legends, such as: George Jones ("Divorce or Destroy"), Charley Pride ("Be Grateful") or Warner Mack ("Wedding Rings"). In 1980, Don Hosea came back, releasing his 4th single ("Hell Had Blonde Hair" / "Singer Man") after 19 years of silence. After almost no success again, Hosea quit and retired in the early 90s. Hosea wasn't seen performing since early 90s, while not even records were released since then. But very unexpected and shocking comeback followed again in 2015, when Hosea just turned 77 y.o. This time, Hosea released only 1-track Country single called: "Wake Up America". Complete Discography: 1) Everlasting Love / I'll Try Again (Crystal Records - 1958) 2) Misery / John Henry (Rita - 1960) 3) Since I Met You / Uh Huh Unh (Sun - 1961) 4) Hell Had Blonde Hair / Singer Man (NSD - 1980) 5) Wake Up America (Matchbook Records, Out To Lunch - 2015) Unreleased Songs: 1) Never Did I (Sun - 1958) 2) John Henry (Sun - 1958) = This is a different version than the one later released on "Rita" label in 1960. This earlier Sun version is wild and probably Don's wildest song! 3) If It Wasn't For Love (Sun - 1958) Don Hosea came to Sun Records in 1958 to do a session/audition with these three songs before recording at Crystal Records! Unfortunately Sam Phillips considered Hosea's songs as "nothing special" and none of them were released. These are the only songs that Don recorded besides his 5 singles. Billy Lee's band "The Little Green Men" is Don's backing band playing on these three song
