Diane Dufresne

Canadian (Québec) singer, actress and painter born September 30,1944 in Montréal. Known for her eccentric costumes, she is considered one of the greatest Québec singers.

She had to leave school at 15, following the death of her mother. Then, at 18, just before flying to France, she performed texts by Aragon, Ferré, Brel on stage in Montréal. In Paris, she studied singing with Jean Lumière and theater with [a=Françoise Rosay] and, between 1966 and 1968, she was hired in the cabarets of the Left Bank where she sang Vigneault, Ferland, Léveillée and also sang in revues, film soundtracks and for the radio. Her career really took off in the fall of 1972, with the release of her first album Tiens-Toé Ben, J'Arrive ! In 1973, at the [l565772], she was consecrated and other French-speaking countries were soon seduced by this woman as well.
In 2023, she was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.
