Adopted daughter of drummer Louis Bellson and singer Pearl Bailey.
She finished 2nd on the 1988 Star Search TV show.
Dee Dee often traveled with her mother on tour. She began singing as a youngster and sometimes appeared with Bailey on TV variety shows. She attended Pierce College in Woodland Hills, California. She toured as a vocalist with various jazz groups and sang on recordings by Weather Report and Wayne Shorter, among others. She also performed with her father’s big-band ensemble at many venues across the Southland.
