Born on April 10, 1955, in Baltimore, Maryland, Jacobs began her career singing in local bands before signing with MCA Records in 1978. Jacobs' hit single "High on Your Love" was released in 1979 and reached number 70 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The hit single "Don't You Want My Love" became her biggest hit, reaching number 15 on the Hot 100 and number 1 on the Hot Dance Club Play chart.
