    The two founders, Jaco Spies and Johrné of Huyssteen , met when they worked together at a cell phone store in Bloemfontein. Both wanted to make music, but realized that they needed capital and exposure. In 2001, they established the brand trademark, "Geblikte Afrikaans" - which won a Pendoring award that year. This gave them the necessary capital to start a music career, and by selling their products at festivals, they also had the opportunity to act on the free stages. Their first performance as a "band" was Sarie tent's free stage at the KKNK.
