As one of the pioneers of breakbeat garage, Dave Jones has recorded under many aliases, with the Zed Bias moniker his best known. It was under this name that he released a string of seminal underground 12-inches through his own Sidewinder and Sidestepper imprints, as well as leading labels such as [l=Social Circles], while also hitting the UK charts in 2000 with the irrepressible bounce of "Neighbourhood" on [l=Locked On]. It was on this label that the first Phuturistix releases surfaced a collaborative project with Manchester-based artist [a=Sefton Mottley]. Together they went on to record the critically acclaimed "Feel It Out" album, released in 2003 by [l=Hospital Records]. Jones had already begun to explore this more soulful, jazz-tinged style under his Maddslinky guise, culminating in the release of the "Make Your Peace" album on [l=Laws Of Motion], and with Hospital recently releasing his first drum 'n' bass track "Something About This", Zed Bias is one producer who is becoming increasingly difficult to tie down.
