Cristian Marina

Swedish composer, born October 31, 1965 in Cluj, Romania. After studying composition with, among others, Cornel Taranu in his hometown of Cluj, Marina moved to Sweden in 1987. There he studied composition at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm for, among others, Sven-David Sandström and Magnus Lindberg. In 1995 Marina studied composition IRCAM in Paris for Luca Francesconi and in 1996 at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena for Franco Donatoni. Other well-known teachers are Miklos Marós, Brian Ferneyhough and Phillipe Manoury. Cristian Marina's work, which includes several different genres in modern classical music, has been spread around the world at concerts as well as festivals and radio. His work has been performed at ISCM-World Music Days in Hong Kong (in 2002 and 2007), Slovenia (2003) and Croatia (2005 and 2011). Marina's work has also been published by Edition Suecia and recorded on CD by, among others, Fylkingen Records in Sweden, 7 Dreams Records in Romania and Edition LGNM in Luxembourg.
