Clive Davis

American Music Executive. Born April 4, 1932 in Brooklyn, New York, USA. Father of Fred Davis.

Founder of [l=Arista] and [l=J Records]; head of [l=RCA]. Chief Creative Officer of [l=Sony Music Entertainment].
Trained as a lawyer, he was hired by a former colleague of his at a law firm to work at [l=CBS]. He co-wrote numerous songs and produced many of the acts he signed whilst employed there. He eventually became well known for the auspicious roster of artists that he signed.
Five-time Grammy winner. Inducted into Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 2000 (Non-Performer).

Note: Clive Davis is NOT a producer. Where he is listed as "Album Producer" on a release, it means he had an executive role in the making of the album; not that he produced the songs on the album. He should be credited as "Executive Producer".
