Claude Ballif (May 22, 1924, Paris, France - July 24, 2004, Poissons, France) was a French music teacher and composer. Claude Ballif learned music at the Conservatoire de Bordeaux and Conservatoire de Paris with Noël Gallon, Tony Aubin and Olivier Messiaen, then at Berlin Hochschule für Musik with Boris Blacher. Since 1971, Ballif has been professor of musical analysis at Conservatoire de Paris, and then associate professor of composition after 1982.
