One of the most highly regarded and influential old-time fiddlers. Playing music since age 5 (banjo). He performed solo and played in a well known duo with his nephew, Luches Kessinger, called the Kessinger Brothers. Performing career ended by stroke in 1971. Inducted into West Virginia Music Hall of Fame, 2007.
