Alto gospel singer, pianist and arranger, (born April 21, 1924, Philadelphia – died January 16, 1973) Member of the popular Ward Singers gospel group (1943-1966), directed by her mother, Gertrude Ward. Aretha Franklin said that she was her first inspirator.
