He studied at the Royal College of Music, London (1981-1985). During his studies, he was given the position of Principal Oboe with the European Union Youth Orchestra. Principal Oboe of the [a=Academy Of St. Martin-in-the-Fields] chamber ensemble (04/2002-01/2017) and Orchestra Of The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden (02/2017-present). Joint Principal Oboe of the Philharmonia Orchestra (01/1999-01/2017). Professor of Oboe at the Royal Academy of Music (09/1994-07/2008). Member of the faculty of the Royal Academy of Music, where he holds the position of Professor of Oboe since September 2012.
