Carboon

The name of this (mostly studio)band is thought up by Jean, referring to the subject of most of their work, the coalmines and culture surrounding them in Limburg in the south of the Netherlands. Live performances were rare. Notable exceptions are their performance on the 14th of november 1978 in the "Oranjerie" in Roermond and their performances in "het Jaar van de Mijnen" (the Year of the Mines) in 2015 in the Stadsschouwburg Heerlen. Due to sold out venues and a lot of interest, there will be additional performances in 2016 (atleast two in may and two in september 2016). Their first album, "Witste nog, koempel..." sold 50.000 copies within the first three months of publication and became the first gold record with exclusively Limburg-dialect songtexts.
