Recording engineer and owner of the [l=Master Recorders] studio in Hollywood (born October 12, 1915 in New York City – died May 2, 2003 in Los Angeles, California)
Born Abraham Rabinoff, the son of a cigar roller, Abe Robyn grew up in the Bronx. By 1940, he was working as a sound engineer for Fidelity Recordings in Los Angeles, CA. Starting in August 1942, he served for three years in the Air Force.
In the 1950s, Bunny Robyn mastered Fats Domino's New Orleans recordings in his Los Angeles studio. He thought some of them sounded "logy" (a bit lame), and he convinced [l=Imperial] owner Lew Chudd to let him speed up Domino's "Ain’t It A Shame," recorded in March 1955, by 5%. When the record became a hit, he did the same with another 11 of Domino's titles.
Robyn also recorded all early albums (1957-61) of [a=Ricky Nelson (2)] in his studio.
