Brian Fennelly, born Kingston, NY, 14 Aug 1937- died 2015, is an American composer. He studied at Yale University with Perle and Schuller. He has been a music administrator and in 1981 became professor at New York University. His music includes 12-note works and freely atonal works. In addition to composing and teaching, he has been active as a pianist and also as an officer and board member in a number of music organizations; he also co-directs the Washington Square Contemporary Music Society, which he founded in 1976. Father of viola da gamba player Liam Fennelly.
