Black Albatross was an American black ambient band founded by Saquib Malik and Howard Change in early 2006. Saquib had originally founded the band in Pakistan under the name Funeral Junkie in 2002. In 2005, he moved to the United States to attend Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey and there met Howard who was at the time the vocalist in the black metal band Throne Of Mortality. Howard left Throne Of Mortality in the fall of 2005 to focus on Funeral Junkie. The duo then decided to change the name of the band to Black Albatross in early 2006. Howard left the band in the summer of 2007 and was replaced by vocalist Jack Gannon. Other musicians that came and went include keyboardist and effects Brian Zimmerman, drummer Erin Nelson and guitarist Damian Kullikowski.
