British post punk/hard rock musician, songwriter, and artist.
Born: 30 November 1955 in Stanmore, London, England, UK.
Idol first achieved fame as a founding member (with Tony James) of London punk rock band Generation X, starting in 1976 and disbanded in 1981. Later he embarked on a successful solo career and after releasing his second studio album "Rebel Yell" (1983), became an international rock star, and moved to the US to pursue his career.
His music videos are also known for their constant playback on the nascent television network MTV.
