Her friend Faron Young introduced her to Hank Williams. She married him in October 1952. After his death she got married to Johnny Horton in 1953. When Johnny Horton died in a motorcycle accident she started her recording career which lasted just for the early 60's. She also had a brief relationship with Johnny Cash.
