American singer, producer, actor, and comedian. Born: 18th May 1948, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, U.S.A.
Brother of Pete Zorn.
Involved at an early age with drama, performance and music Bill Zorn won a national television award as a host of "The Indispensables", a teenage variety show. Bill Zorn formed his first band The Windjammers (also spelled Win'jammers) in early 60s with his brother Pete and Gaylan Taylor. The Windjammers achieved some attention when featured at the Expo 67 in Montréal, Canada but the band also toured extensively in South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Libya, Europe and in the Caribbean.
Following an audition for Sid Garris, Bill and Pete became touring members of The New Christy Minstrels, with Bill also engaged as their musical director from 1970 till 1974. In 1973 Bill Zorn became a member of The Kingston Trio for three years, whereupon Bill joined his brother in England, where they hit the charts reaching #7 in February 1979 with the song "Car 67" performed by Driver 67. A year later the two brothers started a new music project called The Arizona Smoke Review.
In England Bill worked for regional television programmes, acted in dramas and comedies and did voice-overs for cartoons and documentaries, publishing many songs at the same time. He was also member of the TV band Bill Zorn & Jon Benns, a Comedy/Folk duo, that released an album and did some tours in the UK.
Moving back to Phoenix, Arizona in late 1996, Bill joined the veteran US band The Limeliters and produced an album for his teammate Glenn Yarbrough. In 2003 Bill left the band and a year later re-joined the Kingston Trio releasing some albums, two of which also as a producer.
