August Söderman

Swedish composer during the Romantic period, conductor, painter and illustrator, born July 17, 1832 in Stockholm, died February 10, 1876. He is perhaps the foremost representative of Swedish national romanticism. One of Söderman's most famous works is "Ett svenskt festspel", which was originally used as an overture to the play "Några timmar på Kronoborg". It was then used for "Orleanska jungfrun". Söderman also wrote many works for men's choirs, where his "Ett bondbröllop" is the most famous work. The wedding march from "Bröllopet på Ulfåsa" is also a frequently played work.
