A Grammy Award nominated jazz composer, pianist and drummer. Lande was born in 1947 in New York City. He has lived in San Francisco, Switzerland, and is now based in Boulder, Colorado. He recorded a number of albums for ECM Records in the 1970s and 1980s, beginning with Red Lanta (1974), a collaboration with Jan Garbarek.
In 1976 he assembled the group Rubisa Patrol, recording three albums with them by 1978. He also has recorded a number of solo piano albums, the first of which, "The Eccentricities Of Earl Dant", was released by 1750 Arch Street Records in 1977. His 1987 album "Hardball!" was nominated for a Grammy Award.
Lande has also collaborated with Mark Isham (formerly with Rubisa Patrol), Dave Samuels, Mark Miller, Nguyên Lê and Paul McCandless. He also has appeared as a guest pianist and/or drummer on numerous jazz albums.
