Hardcore/metal band from Chicago, IL. Formed in 1997 by Andrei Cabanban, Adam Norden and Scott Shellhamer. Shellhamer, originally the drummer, departed after a handful of shows and was replaced by Mike Duffy. At this stage, the band was primarily instrumental, although Shellhamer returned to perform as lead vocalist for one show and the band recorded a few covers tunes with Norden and Cabanban singing. After releasing one full-length and a couple of EPs as a trio, Shellhamer joined the band as 2nd guitarist. Cabanban later dropped out of the group, Norden switched to guitar from bass and added lead vocals to his duties, and Ray Donato joined as bassist. Donato later left the group and the band recorded their 2nd full-length, "Millenarian", as a trio. The band's activities were now slowed down by Duffy's relocation to Atlanta, GA, and members' activities in other projects. In 2011, the group released their 3rd full-length, "Sedentary" with a variety of guest bassists, including Erik Bocek, who would be named the band's permanent bass player. In 2014, American Heritage announced its dissolution upon the release of it's final album, "Prolapse".
