Swedish choir, founded in 1830 as a male choir, at Uppsala University but transformed into a mixed choir in 1963. The choir is Scandinavia's oldest university choir and consists of approximately 50 singers. In addition to regular concerts in Uppsala, the choir travels within and outside Sweden on tours, records albums and participates in the media.
For more than two decades the famous Swedish composer Hugo Alfvén was appointed as conductor of Allmäna Sången. Apart from giving concerts in Uppsala, the choir tours in Sweden and abroad, records CDs and regularly performs on national radio and television.
The choir's conductor is Maria Goundorina.
