African-American singer who was recorded by the Library of Congress while an inmate at State Penitentiary in Nashville, Tenn., in 1933. In the latest edition of the prewar blues discography, Blues and gospel records 1890-1943 (Oxford University Press, 1997), p.731, his name is shown as Allen Prothro.
