Alfredo Eusebio Gobbi

Uruguayan musician, composer, and lyricist (5 February 1877 Paysandú, Uruguay - 25 January 1938 Buenos Aires, Argentina). Member of the so-called "Old Guard" of Argentinian tango who recorded numerous records in the 1910s and 1920s. Together with his wife, Flora Rodríguez de Gobbi, he formed a well-known duo under the name Los Gobbi or "Los Reyes del Gramófono" (Kings of the Gramophone).


Alfredo Gobbi wrote the lyrics for the tango "Don Juan" by Ernesto Ponzio and composed numerous well-known songs, including "Preciosa mía," "El picaflor," "Sin madre," "La entrerriana," "Delirio gaucho," "Altar criollo," "El ranchito", "Lauros y glorias," and "No me abandones."

Flora and Afredo's son, Alfredo Gobbi, became a well-known tango musician in the 1940s.
