"A mystery surrounds Alexander Robinson, Bob/Rob Robinson, and Bob Alexander. Alexander Robinson is reported to be a pseudonym for Bob Alexander, the pianist, but this is incorrect. The Gennett files, however, list Alexander Robinson as playing both piano and guitar with the Hokum Boys, and Bob Alexander as playing guitar! All are apparently vocalists, Bob Robinson and Rob Robinson sounding aurally identical. This is a tangle we are at present unable to unravel. It seems that there must be more than one man involved, but possibly not more than two. We are listing these artists under their respective issue credits until such time as this can be sorted out correctly." (Blues and gospel records 1890-1943 (1997), p. 760-761)
