Born: August 27, 1953, Fernie, British Columbia, Canada. Alex Lifeson (born Aleksandar Živojinović (of Serbian origin), in British Columbia, Canada) plays guitar, occasional bass pedals, and other incidental stringed instruments (such as mandolin) in the progressive rock band Rush. He has been a member since its creation in 1968 and is a lifelong friend of Rush bandmate Geddy Lee (the two met in junior high school). He is considered an underrated musician and "the least talked-about member in Rush" though, like bandmates Geddy Lee and Neil Peart, is a virtuoso musician in his own right with a distinctive spontaneous playing style. His solo album, "Victor" (which featured performances from Primus' Les Claypool and his own son Adrian Živojinović) was released in 1996.
