Alberto Bevilacqua

Born on 27th June 1934 in Parma, † Roma 9 September 2013, Alberto Bevilacqua immediately caught the attention of Leonardo Sciascia who encouraged him to publish his first work "La polvere sull'erba" in 1955. This was followed in 1961 by "L'amicizia preduta". It was not until 1964 that he became well-known internationally - this was after his book " La Califfa" was made into a film which he himself directed. Many of his works have won literary prizes : "Questa specie d'amore " (Premio Campiello 1966); "L'occhio del gatto" (Premio Strega 1968); "Un viaggio misterioso" (Premio Bancarella 1972); "I sensi incantati" (Premio Bancarella 1991) and have been translated into numerous languages. Alberto died on 9th September 2013, in Rome.
