    Albert Baez

    Mexican-American physicist who made important contributions to the early development of X-ray microscopes and later X-ray telescopes.

    He was born in Puebla, Mexico in 1912 and raised in Brooklyn, New York, USA. After a long and brilliant academic career, he died in Redwood City, California, in 2007, at age 94.
    He was married to Joan Baez, Sr.; the couple had three daughters: Pauline Marden, Joan Baez and Mimi Farina. He was grandfather of Gabriel Harris.
