Adelbert Von Deyen
Adelbert von Deyen was a Berlin based, German musician, composer, painter and a graphic artist. He was born on 25 October 1953 in Süderbrarup and died 13 February 2018 in Steinbergkirche, both in the German Land of Schleswig-Holstein. Inspired by both pop, Berlin School electronic music and Pink Floyd, he began working on his own music in sessions with longtime friend Dieter Schütz in the 1970s. He was signed to the Hamburg based [l=Sky Records] which released his first album Sternzeit (German for "sidereal time", as opposed to "solar time") in 1978. Sky Records released a total of nine von Deyen albums between 1978 and 1987, eight solo albums and one collaboration with Schütz, viz. Inventions (1983).
In 1991 von Deyen, Schütz, and Ulla Witt formed the group [a=Deja Vue], recording the album Nightflight. Schütz's sudden death in September of that year caused the project to be shelved and von Deyen put his music career on hold, concentrating on landscape painting instead. In 1992 Von Deyen digitally remastered some of his works for Sky Records. A remastered version of Atmosphere (originally released as an LP in 1980) was released on CD that year as was a compilation album, Sunset - The Best of Adelbert von Deyen.
In 2003 von Deyen launched his own record label and finally released the long-shelved Nightflight album. After receiving a synthesizer as a gift he resumed his own solo career, releasing Painted Black (2006) and Roseg@rden (2007).
Adelbert von Deyen passed away 13 February 2018 in Steinbergkirche near his place of birth in Kreis Schleswig-Flensburg, near Denmark.
