Add N to (X) went back to a duo called Radix Couplement, founded in London in 1994 by Andrew Aveling and Justin Anderson, which was soon joined by Aveling's then partner Ann Shenton. A little later, Barry Smith joined the project. They performed as a quartet for a few months before Anderson left the band. The remaining trio then performed under the name Add N to X.
In 1996, the group's debut album, Vero Electronics, was released, and they soon added brackets to the X in the band's name. Aveling was also replaced by Steven Claydon. Add N to (X) went on to record four more studio albums, between 1998 an 2002. Rob Allum (drums) and Dean Honer (engineer, producer, arranger) were other regular collaborators. The formation disbanded in 2003.
