1-Syntax-1 was a British Synthpop-Minimal Electro group from Dewsbury & Batley. At the time of release the three members of the band were aged 19 to 20, they were: Chris Benecke (Vocals), Rob Gospel (Bass guitar & drum programming), Gary Scargill (Keyboards & programming). The band split up around 1985, with members going on to collaborate with other bands from around west Yorkshire, including Camera Obscura, Paradise Now & Hoi Poloi (with Steve Wright from Fiat Lux ).
